How to Write an English Essay Outline

How to Write an English Essay OutlineThere are quite a few mistakes that students often make when they are writing their English essays. In this article, I'm going to look at the most common ones and suggest some tips on how to avoid them.First of all, there are many common mistakes that students make when writing their essays. Let's look at three of the most common ones and suggest some ways to avoid them in future writing. The first mistake is to write the essay without doing research. Many students never bother to do research before they start writing. In fact, many of them will spend the entire paper just going through every word of their textbook.I find that this is a huge mistake because you should already have done some research before you begin writing. If you don't know any of the basic facts about a topic, it's very likely that you'll end up with an essay that is either very simple or very convoluted. The second mistake that students make is to write on their own using free o nline resources. Obviously, this is completely contrary to the idea of writing the essay from a step-by-step approach, so I would recommend using one of the many standard English course outline software. This allows you to set your own essay outline. You can easily use the course outline to help you write your essay. You can start with a blank page and use the program to fill in your information. The third mistake that's made by students who need to use a course's essay outline is to have an outline with the wrong points marked. Most good course outlines contain points that you need to mark down, so I always prefer them.

Behavioral Therapy Is A Strong Theory - 846 Words

During major crisis and controversial times in an individual s life, cognitive-behavioral therapy is a strong theory. The practices focus on interventions that exemplify a client s positive and strong aspects, rather than analyzing problematic experiences immediately. Instead of following strict protocol, sessions are tailored to the individual s specialized needs, thereby giving the client a sense of new-found self control (Corey, 2013). Skills are adapted and discussed with clients by the â€Å"teaching therapist† and clients are strengthened by applicable skills practiced daily. By activating inner strengths of clients, stress is lessened and problems are looked at more rationally (Corey, 2013). When a cognitive-behavioral therapist is†¦show more content†¦Cognitive-behavioral therapy maintains high levels of successful outcome with patients showing improvement consistently. Evaluation prior and post treatments have shown patients have improved with their thought p atterns and feeling responses. Behavioral improvement is shown as a result of improved cognitive processes and action oriented goals can be observed (Stein, 2013). Part of cognitive-behavioral therapy typically involves psychotropic medicine. Research has shown that combining medication with therapeutic sessions shows the most improvement for long-term improvement (Stein, 2013). For example, nurses observed treatment with a 28 year old male patient over his treatment processes. When combining and following prescribed medication and regularly participating with nurses in cognitive-behavioral therapy, the young man began exhibiting more rational behavior. He reported that his sleep patterns became more regular, with his night s rest being 6-8 hours regularly. He also showed improvement in areas of socialization, stating that he was able and enjoyed at least 2 hours of social interaction daily. In addition, his appetite became normal and he started eating regular meals. His desires of work related ambition returned and he was able to return to work for at least 40 hours per week (Stein, 2013). Weaknesses of the Theory As Corey (2013) points out,

El Greco Biography Essay Example For Students

El Greco Biography Essay The Agony In the Garden, a mannerist style of art by EL Greco, proclaims a sense of spiritual power of religious faith which accomplishes El Grecos aim to move his audience. El Greco was born on the island of Crete and lived from 1541 to 1614. He represented the most characteristic figure of Spanish Mannerism. El Greco was influenced by and became acquainted with the art of Titian and Jacopo Bassano in Venice where he studied in 1566. In addition to visiting Italy, El Greco made his way to Rome, Parma and probably Florence. On his travels he became more familiar with the work of Parmigianino and the work of Correggio. In El Grecos use of form can be seen Florentine Mannerism. Venetian Mannerism can be seen in the peculiar brilliance of his coloring. The plans for the construction of the Escurial and the discussion of works of art being selected by Philip II, probably attracted El Greco to Spain. However, El Greco failed to satisfy the Italianate tastes of the King. He lived virtually uninterruptedly in Toledo from 1575 on. In Toledo he formed friendships with men of advanced beliefs and humanist interests. The monastic, from which his prime commitment came, were glad to decorate their churches and cloisters with his elevated visionary paintings. El Greco paintings bordered on a supernatural world of creative fantasy. Most of his paintings survive in a number of copies painted in his own hand. El Grecos studio which employed a large number of assistants also produced many contrasts of his works. People were very curious about his paintings with their unusual setting and flickering impressiveness. In The Agony In The Garden there are two planes displayed in the art work that are disconnected by a few bare branches that contain fugitive leaves. The upper plane consists of the vision of Christ set against a large rock with a few trees. Christ is kneeling in a reddish-purple robe, with hands stretched out toward the ground. He turns toward the floating angel who is painted in pearly greys. Behind the angel, on the left are spinning clouds. Preceding from an outline of an imaginary town, on the right, are soldiers carrying flags. The inconceivable impression of the picture is due to the contrast of not only passionate and cerebral but in terms of colour- between the two planes and their figural content as well. This painting is the last date of the El Greco pictures in Budapest and is from the last period of the artists life. The Biblical occurrence illustrated is standardized on two levels, one above the other. The group of the three sleeping apostles fill the lower plane. We find comparable groups of apostles in pictures by Giovanni Bellini. El Greco returns to Quattrocento etiquette, especially in the manner in which the sleeping gray-haired apostle bends his arm around his head. Of the abundant versions of this painting in the artists own hand there is a smaller copy in the Museum at Lille, and other variants are to be found in the Episcopal palace in the Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aires. The variant most similarly related to the painting in Budapest is the larger-scale version in the Church of Santa Maria at Andujar which displays other works of mannerist art. The mannerist style thrived at the same time as High Renaissance and Baroque art. Mannerism, like many other names attached to so many other periods of art, was a name conceived in disdain and impudence. Maniera, meaning maner, was correlated with the artist who worked in the manner of someone else. Like an imitator who adapted and sometimes perfected the forms of another. Shakespeare: Biography EssayThrough the proficient genius of El Greco, who took a acute interest in the intellectual currents of his time the style spread as far as distant Spain. At the same time that Spanish and French invaders were in control of Italy, France, Spain, England and the German city states were fighting their own long-enduring wastes. The characteristics of Mannerism first made their appearance in the full during the period of the classical Renaissance. It began to spread and finally it prevailed. Similarly, in the second half of the sixteenth century, the Baroque style began to come forth and conquer. The judgment of the Council of Trent ran counter to the philosophy as well as the literature and art of the Renaissance. The decisions also disagreed with both the sprit of classical mythology and the conclusions of natural sciences. In fact they engage in active battle for absolutism in the rule of the Church and the temporal monarch. The churches of the Jesuit order considered the new standard in art. They did not advocate silent dedication, they were designed as mediums for the preacher and the religious propagandist. Making use of the documents and the characteristics of the Mannerists artists, the new style was a form of assertion which alarmed a sacred faith in the believer, giving him an active sense of partaking in the mysteries of religion. The solemn guaranty of the Renaissance portraits, the stiff and chill portraits of Mannerism were replaced by radiant allegorical representations of the dominant princes and monarchs producing a feeling of awe and acquiescence before their almost superhuman power in the spectators breast. Paintings were of classical gods and goddesses, extraordinary in flying draperies and their fervid and unsettled indications. However, this was all that cultivated Europe had in common during the Baroque period. The international similarity of Mannerist art which had lasted for about a century, disintegrated England, but the widespread notions of art began to contrast in France, Italy and Spain. The bourgeois perspective of the Dutch Baroque naturally familiarized the Dutch painters towards realism. There is no dilemma in determining whether one is looking at the work of a Northern or Southern arts, an Italian or a Dutch. The national characteristics break through the thin international coating that developed during the Mannerist period. The diffusion and victory of Baroque art was at the same time a success for unique national characteristics. Some Mannerist artist were able to combine themselves in the melting pot of the European public and benefited most form the prudent principles of their times. A Baroque painter even conserved his national characteristics. Baroque made use of characteristics of the Mannerist style by engaging and future maturing them. There was more unity in Mannerist styles outweighing ideas and more variance in its forms of presentation. Classicism, however, was piercingly against everything mutual to Mannerism and the Baroque. It condemned Mannerism in some unstable terms, with all its integrity and corruptions. The Masters, such as El Greco were forgotten, but that taste in art could not be hidden forever. Mannerist art came back to life after it had been dead for a few centuries. It fist came back to life with the discovery of El Greco and others.

Why You Need To (Or Should) Pay Student Loan Interest In College

Oneglaring aspect ofstudent loans that people tend to overlook is the interest rate on the loan. Here are somereasons you should start paying them off sooner rather than later. If put off too long, they can be a bigger obstacle than you bargained for down the road. Making interest payments on student loans is good idea for a couple of reasons. While it may be a bit of a hassle for a college student, the benefits of doing so far outweigh the cons. The first and foremost reason for paying off interest during college is to save money. The motivation for making these payments early is to avoid capitalization. Capitalization is when unpaid interest is added to the principal balance on a loan. This means the principal balance increases every month which sets the stage for interest to accrue on a greater principal balance each consecutive month. Here is a quick example of capitalization. One month there is a loan with a principal balanceof $1000 and an interest rate of 5%, so $50 is accrued in interest for that month. Next month, the principal balance is taken as $1050, so the next interest accrualcomes out to $52.5. With the previous example, it is clear how capitalization creates a snowball effecton a student loan. If interest payments are not made during college, then new graduates may find themselves with an unmanageable loan. Choosing to make interest payments in college helps reduce the size of this snowball by keeping the principal balance closer to its original disbursement value. You can calculate your savings using thiscalculator. In the end, the borrower will spend less on his or her student loan; additionally, shorter repayment terms often result from this practice. The next motivation for making interest payments during college does not yield the same fiscal return as the previous point; even so, it is just as important. Paying off monthly interest during school fosters a good habit of making monthly payments in general. A significant portion of student loans are not in repayment. This means they are either dubbed as in-school, grace deferment, forbearance, delinquency, or default. Delinquent and defaulted loans are a serious issue. These terms mean that payments are late on a loan, and this is often a result of bad loan payment practices. Avoiding default is important for both the borrower and the lender. Not just for student loans either, it is a paramount for auto loans, mortgages, and credit payments. Many borrowers fall behind on these monthly debt payments, but adhering to monthly interest payments is solid way to start a good habit for the future. Starting interest payments in college creates multiple benefits that apply to the borrower, the lender, and the economy overall. The borrower can form a good habit that ultimately saves him or her money in the long run. The lender receives the desired return on investment which is the whole point from the company perspective. Less strain is felt by the government and tax payers which benefits the economy overall. It may seem ridiculous to say that tackling student loan interest early improves the overall economy. At any rate, it is an excellent method to tackle any form of debt which surely contributes positively to the overall economic situation. One of the best places to start forming these positive habits is in college where most young adults experience their first debt challenge: student loans.

Wernher von Braun And His Contributions To America’s Space Program Wernher von Braun was a visionary and idealist. Born on March 23, 1912 in Wirsitz, Germany, von Braun was inspired by the works of Hermann Oberth and a telescope from his mother (Semler). His repertoire consisted of a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Berlin Institute Of Technology and a PhD in Physics from the University of Berlin (Sandmen). After becoming a member of the VfR (a German Rocket club) von Braun and a select few were hired to develop rockets by the German Army. While working for the military von Braun led a team that developed the V2. The V2 was the first successful ballistic rocket and is the ancestor of modern rockets (Lampton, 55, 59). After defecting to the U.S. during Operation Paperclip, von Braun and his team were transferred to several places before being stationed at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico ( Bergaust 126, 129). Von Braun’s initial task was to train the U.S. military on how to use the V2. America’s first launch of the V2 occurred on April 16 1946, this was where America’s interest in rocketry began (Lampton 98). After this success von Braun was moved onto more important ventures. The first was to construct a new rocket that was a notch above the V2. The Redstone Rocket, designed by von Braun and his team, was named after its arsenal (Bergaust, 191, 193). It was approximately 70 feet tall and twice as large as the V2. With a maximum thrust of 78,000 pounds and a weight of 60,000 lbs. the Redstone could carry 8000 lbs. of payload and travel a 200 mile horizontal distance using alcohol as fuel (Lampton, 107). Employee retention using lessons from motivation theories Essay

Employee retention using lessons from motivation theories - Essay Example The paper tells that as businesses face the challenge of operating in a tough global economy they have been forced to perform painful layoffs while at the same time seek to retain their high-impact performers. One would expect it to be easier to retain staff amidst this period of economic recovery however the paradox is that there is a shortage of people with the requisite talent that companies need to remain competitive in this tough business environment. This means that the few critical employees that each company seeks to retain are also the ones who are attractive to competitors. The challenge therefore remains in retaining these critical staff. The importance of retaining critical staff cannot be gainsaid. When an employee leaves an organisation the organization loses primarily on the knowledge, skill and experience that the individual had developed over time at his/her present occupation. To fully comprehend the importance of maintaining critical employees Ramlall raises three postulations of the human capital theory. To begin with human capital theory posits that people possess skills, experience and knowledge which represent capital to an organization because they enhance productivity. This means that employees are of economic value to organizations. Secondly, the theory posits that not all labour is equal. Some labour is more valuable than others by the mere fact that more resources have been invested in their training. It is therefore important for the organization to ensure that it retains those on whom it has invested more in developing. Thirdly, investment in building skills among employees would be more profitable and more likely to be undertaken the longer the period over which the returns from the investment can accrue (Ramlall, 2004). This implies that an organisation would derive more value out of its staff if it can train them and then retain them for a significant amount of time within which the staff can use their skills, experience and k nowledge to improve the organization’s processes. Employees possess skills, experience and knowledge, and therefore have economic value to organizations. Where employee turnover is high the company fails to realize a full return on its investment in hiring and training staff. This report reviews the classic motivation theories and uses them to explain how organizations could devise techniques that will enable them retain their high-impact employees. 2.0. Work motivation The heart of motivation is to give people what they really want most from work (Mullins, 2010). Motivation can be of

The Improving Economy of Middle East Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

The Improving Economy of Middle East - Essay Example Publications of the web and science database indicate the standard economic growth of Middle East to be almost faster than that of the world by four times (specifically Turkey and Iran). His name is XX. His area of interest in global studies is the economics and how regional integration affects it. Over the years, we have witnessed the adverse effects of a nation that is divided. States that work in collaboration with others benefit from a broad base of knowledge as well as subsidized trade duties. They also enjoy the benefit of foreign aid and trade from the other states with whom they are partnering with. It also promotes a peaceful co-existence among the nations that are integrated. Most of all, they advance their economies of scale and advice one another on the best ways to make their individual state economies to grow. Of particular interest to this member is the economic growth pattern of the Middle East over the years. He believes though the economy was quite influential sometime back, it experienced some setbacks and stumbled a little. Besides the issue of national and economic integration, his argument is that a states organization of its political economy is very key if the state is to realize sustainable economic growth (Alan & John). This member by the name YY believes a state’s economy is dependent on a number of factors. He is particularly interested in studying the demographic trends of states in order to unveil the linkages between demographic change, food, water, urban life, and regional economic integration and the state’s economy. In demographics, he focuses on the literacy levels of the natives, income per capita, population growth rates, and employment opportunities among others. These issues he argues that, are of prime importance as they are directly linked to the economy of the state.
